A Room in the Forest
On a sheer river bank, amongst birch, aspen, pine and nature-sculpted boulders, lies Juvet, Europe’s first landscape hotel. At first glance, the seven detached guest rooms seem modest and unassuming. But when inside, nature greets you through the massive panoramic windows. You can almost feel the trees brushing against you, and the snow-white drops of spray from the river Valldøla on your face.
Wallpaper* Quote: After checking in to the soul-stirring Scandic resort of the Juvet Landscape Hotel (see below) in the August issue of Wallpaper*, we got decidedly hooked on the idea of the cabin retreat. Needless to say we’re not talking roadside hut here, but architecturally interesting, fully decked out, five-star luxury suites, complete with the privacy that only being in your very own structure can offer.
Each room is a detached small independent house with one, or sometimes two of the walls constructed in glass. The landscape in which these rooms are placed is by most people considered spectacularly beautiful and varied. The topography allows a layout where no room faces another. This way every room has its own unique view of a landscape that changes with weather, time of day, and season.
